Cable Car Ride in Gangtok

This popular activity shall leave you mesmerized with the splendid views of the Gangtok city. Started in 2013, the must-visit attraction in Darjeeling is the Cable Car Ride in Gangtok. It is a zig-zag ropeway activity that stretches for 1 kilometer from Deorali to Tashiling (6,200 ft.). During this ropeway ride, get amazed by the sights of the Mt. Kanchenjunga- the 3rd highest mountain in the world.

From here, the cable car ride takes the reverse turn and ends at Deorali. While you fly over the snow-capped mountains, the bird’s eye views of the local life of Gangtok, pristine streams flowing, Tista river and the beautiful sceneries shall keep you gripped through the ride. 

This would thus be an unforgettable experience for nature and photography enthusiasts. If you are one of them, grab one of the end positions of the cable car to click pictures easily without interruption. Also, note that this activity is usually not included in the itineraries and thus, you would have to shell out from your pocket.

Things to know…

• This ride starts from Deorali, halts at Namnang and stops at Tashiling.
• It is open from 9 AM – 5 PM daily, seven days a week.
• A one-way ticket or a partial trip isn’t possible either.
• There are extra charges applicable for photography inside the cable car.
• Each cable car can accommodate 24 passenger at once and doesn’t have any seats.
