Set in the great Thar desert, the majestic town of Jodhpur is also known as the 'Sun City' or the ‘Blue City' of Rajasthan – the land of forts and palaces. On a steep hill is located the mighty and grand 15th century Mehrangarh fort, which has now been turned into a museum. This fort is one of the largest and most intricately crafted. Close to the fort is the Jaswant Thada – a memorial for the brave kings of Jodhpur.
Jodhpur has its own rustic charm and one must jump into the streets to have a feel of it. The best time to visit here, like the rest of Rajasthan, is October to March, when the weather is cool.
