Puri is the most popular seaside town of Eastern India.  It is best known for the Jagannath Temple dating back to 12th century, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This is one of the tallest and largest temples in the region.  The Jagannath temple makes Puri one of the four 'Dhams' which should be visited by every devoted Hindu at least once in a lifetime. The temple kitchen feeds more than 10,000 people everyday.  

The great Jagannath festival is the RathYatra in June-July, marking the God's annual visit from his domain to his birthplace. Lakhs of people join the procession to take up the ropes of His chariot and draw it through the streets of Puri to the Gundicha courtyard.
